Keyholder/Caretaker/Handyperson

10 - 15 hours per week

Band 2 Salary range £4,707 - £7,189

Belsay Primary School is looking to recruit a part time keyholder//handyperson/keyholder to start in September 2023.

The school is situated approximately 5 miles outside Ponteland and is set in extensive, rural grounds.  The building itself dates back to the 1800's and forms part of the Belsay Estate.

The postholder's key responsibility will be to open the school in the morning, ensure that the external grounds are kept free from litter and leaves and undertake basic maintenance tasks.

The ideal candidate will possess basic DIY skills so they may contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the site.  Examples include but are not limited to changing lightbulbs, repairing doors and other basic joinery tasks, basic plumbing tasks such as changing a tap, unblocking toilets or repairing a minor leak.  They will also be required to conduct basic statutory checks such as emergency lighting and fire fighting equipment checks - full training will be provided.

Some lettings work may be required and an additional payment will be made where these are outside usual working hours.

Hours of work are up to 15 hours per week Monday to Friday.  The ideal working pattern would be an hour or two before 0900 with the remaining hours delivered during and/or after the school day.  We can however be flexible for the right candidate.

Consideration will be given to applications as they are submitted.  For an informal discussion about the role or about the flexibilities we can offer on working patterns please contact Claire Leightley on 01661 864 426 or by email to c.leightley@peletrust.org.uk
