First meeting of 2021

ECO Committee meeting (19.10.21)

During our meeting this week we planted two oak trees on the field and we used the tree protectors that we designed during Biodiversity Day to ensure they are kept safe; particularly on snowy days when we are sledging.  We have more trees arriving in November and we are looking forward to planting them in our grounds. Can we remind everyone that we are still collecting crisp packets and ink cartridges (please place them in the collection point by the school gate).

Other news:

We have collected 2880g of empty crisp packets since July 2021 October 2021.

We raised £250.00 for our school by recycling unwanted uniform, sports shoes and fancy dress items.

We are having an Autumn clean of our Invention Shed of things that are unwanted or have become boring and replenishing with more recycled goodies - please get in touch with Amy or Sue if you have something to offer; all of the unwanted items from the Invention Shed will be sorted into categories and taken to the correct recycling points and not put into the bin, to go into landfill. The compost bins are also doing well.

School garden - hardy herbs are doing well and we look forward to opening an honesty box for 'pick your own' herbs and salad for parents, early next year.

As Winter approaches we welcome donated bird food to keep our bird feeders replenished.

We had an amazing week back in July during 'Bee Week'.  Years 5 and 6 took part in a geographical/scientific field study, collecting lots of data to determine how bee-friendly our school grounds are.  We were excited to work with the science teacher from Ponteland High School.
